Tomorrow is the BIG Day!!

Hey everyone!

Just wanted to post one LAST post to the "Atlanta Encounter" blog (for a while anyways) just to make sure we get the word to you that our new blog community can be found at www.church4chicks.blogspot.com.

God is already bringing women from other cities into our new and growing family, so we wanted to provide a blog community for ALL women to be a part of, especially as we grow into the vision for reaching women that God has given us.

I hope you'll hop on over and become a "follower" of the new blog. Please tell your friends and help us spread the word.

The Atlanta Encounter Church 4 Chicks begins TOMORROW NIGHT!! If you can't be there in person, please be there in spirit through prayer. We are desperate for God to show up and show off--without Him, this whole thing is absolutely pointless.

We love you!!

A Word from one of our sponsors...

February 26, 2009

Dear Friend,

My name is Alan Scott, and I am the Lead Pastor at Cumberland Community Church in Smyrna, Georgia. A few months ago, I was able to connect with Shelley Hendrix and a few of the great people from Church 4 Chicks. In that initial meeting, I could see the vision and heart Shelley had for ministering to women and digging into the Word.

I was so impressed, I offered the use of our facility at CCC for Shelley and the birthing of her dynamic ministry. Additionally, the women of Cumberland also jumped on the Church 4 Chicks band wagon as a great and needed supplement to our women’s ministry.

As a result, Church 4 Chicks was born and approximately 100+ ladies are now enjoying community, worship, and Bible, expository teaching in a setting that values and elevates women.

I would challenge you to offer Church 4 Chicks to the women of your church. If you already have a women’s ministry, I believe this could be an excellent boost or supplement to what you are already doing. If the women of your church currently don’t gather for a focused time together, I definitely think you should check Shelley and Church 4 Chicks out. Maybe you could send a small contingency of your women to a Tuesday night gathering of Church 4 Chicks, and then evaluate the possibilities.

AND… just so you know. Shelley is not a member of Cumberland and this is NOT a Cumberland thing. However, I do really believe what I’m writing, and to prove this you should know I’ve had Shelley speak at CCC on two previous Sunday mornings. She did an outstanding job! Shelley is a gifted and engaging teacher.

Listen, I know you get a lot of mail across your desk and the events and opportunities seem endless. If the women in your church are fine and well taken care of, I think you can toss this letter in the pile with all the other junk. But… if the women in your church need a boost, and you’d like for them to feel extremely valued … you should take the time to investigate Church 4 Chicks.

Blessings!

Spread the Word!!

Website down for upgrade

Hi Ladies!!
Make sure to come check the blog often for updates and info as the date approaches. We have an AWESOME website coming SOON, but while it's down, please send folks to www.shelleyhendrix.com and they will be able to find the info for Church 4 Chicks (and you can always send them here to the blog as well.)
Don't forget, we will be meeting at First Baptist Church, Woodstock on Thursday at 7 p.m. for our second to the last meeting before kicking off our Spring Atlanta Encounter Series on March 10th at Cumberland Community Church.
To RSVP and get directions for the meeting, Thursday, 2/26, please email us at atlantaencounter@shelleyhendrix.com
New email addresses reflecting "Church 4 Chicks" will be coming soon as well. Please pray for the details to get worked out as well.
One more very important item and prayer request. PLEASE--and I cannot emphasize this enough--PLEASE take time to fast and pray for one another over these next two critical weeks. The enemy is out to steal, kill and destroy this ministry to women by ruthlessly attacking the women involved. We have GOT to stand in the gap for one another. Please let us know you're praying and please know we're praying for you as well.
I love you and can't wait to see you all again!!
In Christ Alone,
Shelley

We're back from the 1st Annual Cruise 4 Chicks!!

Hello Chicks!!
Michele Harkins, one of our own Church 4 Chicks gals, did an amazing job coordinating and organizing the 1st Annual Cruise 4 Chicks this past weekend!
Jenifer and I were truly blessed to be a part of such a special, God-ordained and blessed event with such incredible women. I love when God brings diversity to a group. It reminds me of what Heaven will be like--different ages, backgrounds, denominations, and skin tones. :-)

Shelley, Jenifer and Beth in Port Canaveral before the cruise...

Recognize any other Church 4 Chicks' friends?

Thank you to every single person and to our Great God who made this past weekend so memorable and so valuable to me. Wow--I can hardly believe it has already come and gone! If you're on FaceBook, there are a bunch of pictures on there from the different cruisers, so be sure to check those out.

We are considering moving forward with the On-Line Bible Study and will pick up with Chapters 5 and 6 next week if there are some ladies interested in moving forward with us and/or joining in with us. So, read through Chapter 6 by Tuesday, January 20 and there will be an updated post in relation to those chapters that day right here.

If you were on the cruise, please feel free to leave comments to the other readers and let us know what the weekend meant to you.

Also, one last thing--mark your calendars now for next year's Cruise 4 Chicks. It will be sometime in September 2010. We would be honored if you'd join us!

Just Checking in...

Jenifer and Shelley in Florida over Christmas Break

Hello Ladies!

It seems like forever since I've updated this blog or even my own blog. What a wonderful, full, and seemingly BRIEF Christmas Season! Every year it goes by faster, doesn't it? I can't believe it's already time to put all the decorations away...which I'll be doing most of today.

I am really excited about getting back to the swing of things with ministry and specifically with The Atlanta Encounter~"Church 4 Chicks!" I hope you'll continue to tell your friends about C4C which begins again for 8 weeks on March 10. We will be putting some planning meetings on the calendar soon, so check back HERE for those updates.

As for the Blog Bible Study....I'm trying to decide whether we need to continue with it and so I'm going to leave that up to our blog readers to decide. We haven't had much discussion on the blog, so I'm not really sure who is keeping up with the study and who isn't. I just want to be a careful steward of my time and I know Jenifer feels the same. It may be that the majority of readers are reading the book on their own without leaving feedback on the blog--which is fine--but the purpose of doing this on the blog was to build community so we could learn from each other. I'll give it until Tuesday, the 6th, to hear from you and will make a decision then about whether we'll continue with the study on here or not.

We'll definitely keep the blog updated, though, with info on the upcoming season and events of the Spring Church 4 Chicks. I'm very excited about a brand-new series that God has surprised me with. I'll give more info soon so keep checking back.

By the way, I'm scheduled to host Atlanta Live on WATC 57 on January 27 from 7-9 p.m. and it will re-air on January 28 from 7-9 a.m. I hope you'll watch!

Happy New Year Chicks!!
