It's finally here!!

Hello Everyone!!

The day we've been waiting for is finally here! The first day of our first ever online Bible Study through the Atlanta Encounter "Church 4 Chicks!" I hope you're all excited about being a part of this with me and with each other. I've posted a video here to give a little more info, but make sure to scroll down to the bottom for some more important 411 after the video ends.

Okay, please be patient with me while I get this whole video blogging thing figured out. :-) I am planning to post a video each week as long as everything is working with me (including my hair--I have my priorities!)

If you've purchased your book and have it with you, please read Chapter 1 and then complete the "Going Deeper" section at the end of the chapter. Be prepared to share your answers when you come back to the blog for Week 2 on November 25th.

Your assignment for TODAY is:

1. Click "Comments"

2. Tell us your name (or how you'd like to be known in our blog community)

3. Children? Husband? Single? You don't have to tell us everything, but tell us a little something about you to help us know you better.

4. How did you find out about the Atlanta Encounter Blog Study?

5. What is the single greatest thing God has shown you in your life this year?

1. Done (I clicked "Comments")
2. My Name is Shelley
3. I am married for almost 8 years to Stephen and we have three kids. Stephen and I are both in full-time ministry and are three kids are active in their own interests, so our life is never dull!
4. I invented the blog study--ha ha.
5. God has been showing me more and more that He IS a Redeeming God. I am so thankful that He takes us right where we are, with all our "stuff", and when we surrender everything we are to everything He is, He brings beauty from our ashes.

My name is Debbie. I have been married for 27 years, dated 6 years before that. I have 4 children and 3 in heaven waiting for me. My husband just opened his business and I just recently quit my job and am waiting on what the Lord is wanting me to do. I learned about the blog study through atlanta encounter. I am excited about what God is going to do with this ministry. God is showing me how to wait and be still and know He is God and He is in control (not me) and it is in His timing of what I need to know. This is very hard for me to just sit and wait.

Two weeks was such a long time! I'm Sarah, I have been volunteering with AE for the fall season and have loved the teaching, worship and getting to know Shelley, Debra and the gang. I'm single (I know, the men are crazy!) and attend CCC. I am almost a home owner, so prayers appreciated as we negotiate inspection items!

My name is Shiona Butler,I have been married to Chris for 7 years. I have 2 daughters and 2 step sons. I love being a Mom and love being married to such a funny, thoughful man. I have been in the Real Estate industry for 10 years, and just got laid off yesterday.....yes, yesterday! I am one of those that struggles with waiting on God, it's all in his time, not mine. God shows me that my mess (and it was a BIG one) is my message and WOW he loves me still. I think I found this blog through Facebook? Can't remember but am soooo excited!

My name is Robin. I have been married for 26 years to a man who God evidently hand picked for me. We have three boys, one who is married and two who are still living at home. I found out about this through a couple of the girls who attended the last study yall had, Tabitha and Nedra, two friends from work. I love these two crazy girls and felt God leading me to join in this study with them. God has been my constant through some mighty strong storms this past year and a half. Even in my sad moments, he brings peace to me through the spirit. Like my boss says, he gives me that "warm and fuzzy feeling". :) I am hoping to grow in my walk through this study.

Hey, My name is Tabitha. I have been married for a year and a half to a great guy named Scottie. I have a 15 year old step son and 2 fat cats Caesar and Summer. I found out about the blog during the fall session of the Atlanta Encounter. The single greatest thing god has shown me this year is when it is Gods will he will make a way. He opens doors that you think can never be opened. If you listen (which I have the hardest time with) he will point you in the right direction and make what seems impossible, POSSIBLE!

My name is Michelle. I am single - no kids. (just two kittens Gracie and Chance) I'm an engineer. (civil) I found out about the bible study when Shelley spoke at a ladies ministry event at a friend's church recently. God is teaching me to listen to Him and to wait on Him which is very hard for me. I want to fix everything quickly and my way.

Hi everyone! My name is Kim. I have been married for 2 years and 4 months to Barry. I am a banker and he works for Kellogg's. We have no kids but currently three dogs, Bentley (Schnauzer), Max (Mix between Lab and a Bassett Hound), Molly (American Bull Terrier). I attended Church 4 Chicks and loved it. Shelley has a real down to earth way of communicating that I can relate to. God has shown me not to worry. If we truly put our faith in him and read his word and try our best to abide by it, our lives will be so peaceful. He truly provides for our every need.

My name is Jenifer, and I prefer the term "Not YET married" rather than single. :) I recently moved to the Atlanta area from Florida and I am having a hard time getting used to the frigid weather here! I know about the blog because I'm related to the blog administrator (Shelley is my cousin). I also am the Worship Leader for the Atlanta Encounter. God is showing me A LOT of things this year. He has brought me to a place in my life where I have to completely put my trust in Him. I feel like I am still a work in progress, but what an AMAZING work God is doing!

Make sure to click the box below that says "Email follow up comment to..." so that you can get the updated comments as they come in. I'm really looking forward to seeing how we get to know one another better as we study God's Word together this winter. And, boy, does it ever feel like winter has arrived in the ATL! Brrrr... I'm off to make a 2nd cup of Candy Cane Lane Tea. See you soon! Shelley

My name is Julie. I am married for 12 years (13 on Dec. 23). We have a 3 year old daughter named Madeline with enough energy to supply 2 children. :) I am a pharmacist and my husband Jeff is a vet. I found out about the blog study on facebook. God has shown me so many things this year, but I think the biggest is His sovereignty. I think right behind that would be patience in His timing..discernment between what I want and what He wants is sometimes very difficult and it gets hard to wait for Him to reveal His plan.

My name is Sharon. I am married to David for 4 yrs. We have no children but we have a cat and dog (Slim/Blaze). I found out about this study from some girls at work. The greatest thing God has taught me this year is to be thankful and blessed for the people and things he brings to lifes journey. I'm excited to see what He is going to teach me down this life's journey.

My name is Shannah, and I've been married for 10 years to Rob We do not have any children yet, but we do have a dog. I am a graphic designer, so I love fonts, photos, etc. If you're wondering what a graphic designer does, think over-the-top all-on-the-computer scrapbooking! : )

The biggest thing that God has taught me this year, is that He is wonderfully in control of everything. He has worked things out for me in the past year that I could have never accomplished. I'm one of those women that likes to MAKE things happen, and I could not have MADE any of the things that happened this past year happen! Even other people have told my husband and I that it is abundantly clear that God had his hand in our situation. Very exciting to see Him receive the glory so clearly!

My name is Bethany. I've been married almost 3 years to a wonderful man named Martin. We have to darling kittens named Roxie & Nemo. We are still waiting on God to bless us with a baby.

I went the fall Church 4 Chicks which lead me to the AE Blog study.

God has shown me patience this year and that he is in complete control of my life. It has been a difficult year waiting on God to reveal his plan for my life but I have to keep reminding myself that he has one.

My name is Tiffany, and I have been married to Jim for also almost 8 years... and we have a little girl in Mongolia... LONG story there... We have served in ministry many years, mostly in missions, but are in a season of recovery and healing. I learned about the blog from Shelley and Stephen... And God has taught me this year that despite all the chaos and confusion in my life, I truly have not missed His leading, and I have followed obediently. And He loves me exactly as I am today, wounds and all.
